Taiwanese identity software solution developer CyberLink has released its fourth-quarter 2018 financial report, posting net EPS of NT$3.88 (US$0.126) for the year, reported local media.Digitimes wrote that demand for FaceMe, its in-house-developed AI-enabled facial recognition engine launched in September 2018, has been stronger than originally expected, with Acer, Syscom Computer Engineering and Altek having adopted for smart retail operation, robots and AI IoT devices, company chairman Jau Huang said, adding FaceMe is expected to be the major growth driver over the next 2-3 years for CyberLink.About half of the users of its Create series video- and photo-editing software have shifted from purchase to rental subscriptions, Huang said. Since rental fees are lower than sales prices, the shift is estimated to result in 5-8% decrease in consolidated revenues for first-quarter 2019 but they will increase beginning 2020, Huang indicated.CyberLink has passed an Inter-entity Supply Contract for Software Procurement-Cloud Service conducted by Ministry of Economic Affairs for in-house developed U-Messenger used in team communication, U-Meeting used in cloud computing-based video conferencing, U-Webinar used in cloud computing-based live broadcasting for distance online presentation, becoming a qualified supplier for government and government-sponsored users.
