As passkeys and passwordless solutions become more famed for security, World Password Day has prompted warnings for users to avoid setting  ‘memorable information’ as passwords.

As such, the most common passwords in the UK like “admin” and “12345” have been banned as part of protections against cyber attacks.

Ironically easily guessed passwords enable hackers to compromise systems.

In addition to default passwords, regular or common passwords assessed by the algorithms in modern systems will prompt the user to change their password on a new account.

With passkeys dominating the IAM market, users that still opt for passwords should be more vigilant of cyber attack attempts and put more effort into generating a unique password.

Smart systems today have the capabilities to detect vulnerabilities and hacking attacks from across the world but many businesses are still plunged into chaos when their data is stolen. The measures come into force on Monday in the UK.
