Audi drivers can now utilise the Samsung Galaxy tech ecosystem for automated experiences, locking, unlocking and starting their car without a physical key.

As the newest car models embrace automated systems, Samsung’s digital wallet now supports a digital key for Audi vehicles, meaning drivers can securely share the digital key with other Audi owners. The easy interface allows owners to grant or disable access if the key is lost or stolen through the Samsung Find service.

Whilst drivers sit at the wheel, they can unlock and start the engine automatically using their Galaxy smartphone.

Woncheol Chai, Head of the Digital Wallet Team, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics said Audi drivers could enjoy the “incredible convenience of Samsung Digital Key, powered by advanced UWB technology and easily accessible through Samsung Wallet”.

The technology meets rigorous  EAL6+4 security standards to protect against unauthorized access with the integration of ultra-wideband (UWB) technologies, a standardized communication protocol set by the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC). Biometric and pin-code security protects the vehicle.

Digital keys will roll out for select Audi vehicles starting this month in Europe, followed by a global rollout aligned with the launch of Audi vehicles.
