Not missing the significance of Identity Week America returning on the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, we heard keynote presentations from The US Customs and Border Protection and Alaska Airlines to open the conference. The historic day, which made promises to the victims lost that history would never repeat itself, inspired a lot of the technology innovation showcased at Identity Week.

Diane Sabatino, Acting Executive Assistant Commissioner, Office of Field Operations at The US Customs and Border Protection relayed the latest figures on biometrically processed travellers, which so far delivering CBP’s face biometric mandate, totals 585 million travellers, whilst 2,072 imposters have been identified.

The mandate is continuing to broaden biometric deployments and data sharing agreements with cruise partners, as well as airport, airline and land border partners.

Biometric solutions are being rolled out across land and pedestrian touchpoints and vehicle lanes by the end of the year.

The CBP One application is modernising airport strategies and enabling touchless and lawful travel.

In the near feature, the CBP will be ensuring seamless border entry on the move with biometric identification.
