Peruvian passport officials have said that the country plans to issue some 1.6 million biometric passports over a three-year period.The development of the passport has been prioritised as it follows a Schengen area visa-free agreement with Europe.The initiative will allow Peruvian nationals to travel to the Schengen area for up to 90 days.The Foreign Ministry is also due to issue the biometric passports in the 111 consulates of Peru in foreign countries.
