Facial-recognition technology will be deployed across public transport networks at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Queensland, Australia to stop potential terrorists before they reach public or sports venues.The sophisticated technology system will be monitored around the clock during the 11-day event on the Gold Coast in Queensland, focusing on major platforms and major stops on trains, buses and trams, reported the Daily Telegraph.Faces of suspects would be identified among crowds on trains, trams and buses during the 11-day event next April and trigger a rapid response from police and military deployed to protect the 1.5 million spectators.The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Gold Coast 2018 will be held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia between 4 and 15 April 2018. The Australian Federal Police is driving the initiative, believing the Gold Coast is well placed to test the technology given its already high-level use of CCTV cameras, News Corp reports on Friday.
