The issuance of ‘real’ IDs has been accelerated by authorities per state and ID holders are in the midst of assessing if they currently hold an ID that will meet the higher criteria. The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division has produced 3.5 million Arizona Travel ID cards that will be valid for domestic airline travel after May 7, 2025
May 7 is the federal deadline for compliant REAL ID. Other valid credentials that will be accepted across Transportation Security Administration checkpoints include U.S. passports or a Arizona Travel ID. Without compliance with great security protocols, passengers will not be allowed to board flights as the standard driver’s license may not be accepted.The federal REAL ID credential which is distinguishable by the star in the upper right corner is available as a driver’s license or identification card.

- Two documents confirming Arizona residency (e.g., rental agreements, bank statements, or utility bills showing your current address)
