A technology vendor has been selected to install walkthrough automated 3D imaging screening inside Palm Springs International Airport. TSA’s mandate applicable across all partner airports requires screening technology to be implemented by April 2026. The imaging capabilities at Palm Springs Airport will complement body checks of employees in secure other areas of the airport away from travellers. Before staff carry out shifts in the airport or for travellers through the airport, dutiful systems must ensure the travel risk is low. The HEXWAVE security system by Liberty Defense is the risk detection technology that has received the contract. 

The airport is a busy international hub that in 2024 3.2 million passengers used to make journeys. 

HEXWAVE uses on trend AI technology , advanced 3D imaging and millimeter wave technology to create automation in detecting multi-material threats. It can detect all banned items including explosives and illegal substances.
