SITA has partnered with Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport through a Letter of Intent to drive advancements in operational efficiency, passenger experience, and sustainable aviation technologies. This strategic collaboration aims to address key technological and environmental challenges in the aviation industry.

The LOI sets the stage for pilot projects and proof-of-concept initiatives that will enable Cluj Airport to test SITA’s advanced solutions in real-world settings. These projects focus on improving passenger flow, baggage handling, and energy efficiency, supporting the airport’s commitment to sustainable operations.

Sergio Colella, President of Europe at SITA, highlighted the partnership’s goal of bringing innovation directly to airport operations. “Together, we are not only envisioning but actively creating the future of air travel,” said Colella. The collaboration is expected to set new standards for airports worldwide, showcasing how technology can transform the passenger journey and reduce environmental impact.

A central element of the collaboration is research and development tailored to Cluj Airport’s unique needs. Joint workshops will facilitate the exchange of knowledge on emerging technologies and trends, ensuring both parties remain at the forefront of advancements in passenger processing, mobile technologies, and biometrics.
