Fingerprint Cards has launched an embedded biometric module solution, FPC-BM, in a compact form factor. FPC-BM brings FPC's capacitive fingerprint technology into a wide range of new applications, including access control, industry and healthcare, automotive, and Internet of Things (IoT).The FPC-BM module is a complete embedded biometric fingerprint solution, including a robust FPC ingerprint sensor together with a biometric processor and on-board template storage. It can be used standalone, ready to use out-of-the-box at delivery, or connected to a host as an easy-to-integrate embedded solution. Simple serial commands are used to enrol and verify.Complementing a range of existing embedded solutions, FPC-BM is compatible with the popular touch fingerprint sensors FPC1020 and FPC1021, and the ubiquitous area sensor FPC1011. An IP67-class (dust and waterproof) configuration is also available. This makes the FPC-BM suitable for demanding industrial conditions and all-weather applications. Hence, there are four FPC-BM configurations, meeting market demands.Jörgen Lantto, President and CEO of FPC, comments: “With the introduction of the FPC-BM series of biometric modules, FPC shows continued commitment to expanding the application of our sensors, software, and technology across all market segments. The first commercial applications incorporating the FPC-BM are expected in Q3 2016.
