MSC Cruises has integrated face verification technology from Neurotechnology to streamline the pre-enrolment and verification process for its passengers. This innovation captures each passenger’s photo during the pre-cruise check-in phase via a mobile phone or webcam. The photo is saved in MSC Cruises’ onboard systems for security purposes and used throughout the voyage.
“This new feature, embedded in our digital channels – the MSC for Me App and MSC website – enhances the customer experience by ensuring a smoother and faster embarkation process,” said Luca Pronzati, Chief Digital Technology Officer at MSC Cruises.
He emphasised that Neurotechnology’s solution helps comply with international maritime and cruise security standards, made possible through their partnership.
The face verification technology adheres to International Civil Aviation Organization standards, ensuring the high quality of captured photos for MSC’s embarkation operations. MSC officers can easily match the ID document presented during embarkation with the pre-collected photo, verified by Neurotechnology’s system and transferred to onboard systems.
“We are delighted that MSC Cruises has chosen Neurotechnology Face Verification for their applications,” said Antonello Mincone, Business Development Director for Neurotechnology. He noted the longstanding recognition of their biometric products in the security industry, especially in government applications, and their successful adaptation to other market verticals.
